On the night of June 6, a global catastrophe occurred when the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, a plant that supplies electricity and fresh water to the south of Ukraine, was blown up.
In the first hours after the explosion, water completely or partially flooded eight settlements and one neighborhood of Kherson on the right bank. About 80 affected settlements became the center of the tragedy, affecting Kherson and the region. Almost 2000 houses were flooded on the right bank alone.
A few days later, the water began to recede and the consequences revealed their scale: destroyed houses, flooded basements, piles of garbage and broken trees carried by the current.
Our foundation in partnership with Leroy Merlin Solidarity Foundation promptly responded to the challenges and provided assistance to local residents.
Reliable partner Leroy Merlin has provided:
- 10 – generators
- 3 – high-pressure washers
- chainsaws
- disinfectants,
- flashlights
- and many other important equipment
The total amount of assistance provided was over 270 thousand hryvnias.
Having received all the necessary supplies, the team of the S&P Center UA went to the south of Ukraine to help local residents to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
We are working together to provide even more support to Ukrainians!
