SHELTER: OUR NEEDS

On June 6, 2023, in Lviv, we opened the doors to our shelter “Support and Protection Center” at 233 Lychakivska Street for internally displaced persons. The abandoned building of the former polyclinic has been renovated on the inside, equipped, and filled with the efforts of our foundation and partners. We continue to fully manage and support it.

The Support and Protection Center aimed to start housing people as quickly as possible, having completed internal work, but significant needs and ongoing issues remain.

Key Needs for the Sustainable Development of Our Center:

To ensure the sustainable functioning of our center, it is first and foremost necessary to obtain funding from reliable partners, which will allow us to implement a number of important tasks. The most important of them are the following:

  • Raising funds to ensure stable functioning

For our center to function effectively, we need to ensure a steady flow of funds to cover the costs of operations, salaries, and the purchase of necessary materials and resources to maintain the quality of services. In this context, we are addressing potential partners with a proposal to contribute to the financing of our activities.

  • Roof overhaul and transformation into a third floor

In addition to the current needs, one of the most important tasks is to overhaul the roof of our facility. Currently, the roof requires significant repairs to ensure the safety and efficiency of the building as a whole. However, we also have an ambitious plan to create additional living space by turning the roof into a third floor with comfortable living rooms. This project will not only improve the conditions for staying in the center, but also increase its potential for expanding service delivery.

  • Converting the roof into living quarters

The third floor with living rooms will be used for various needs of the center. These can be rooms of temporary accommodation for people participating in programs or trainings, as well as creating additional conditions for the development of social initiatives. What is more, this step will significantly improve the conditions for people staying at the center, as well as expand opportunities for attracting additional resources and increase the overall efficiency of the center.

Given the above needs, we look forward to working with partners who are willing to support these initiatives both financially and with an eye to development strategy. Together, we will be able to create a more comfortable and safe environment for everyone who uses the services of our center, as well as implement important social projects to improve the life of the community.

We currently need one-time assistance for our residents and internal organization, including:

  • bean bags for children
  • 1 large table for training sessions
  • office chairs for the psychologist`s room
  • mattress covers
  • electric kettles
  • microwave ovens

On an ongoing basis, we require:

  • Hygiene products and household chemicals;
  • Long-lasting food items, tea, coffee, sugar, and sweets;

We appreciate any help and cooperation in advance. Thank you!
