Olena from Kharkiv and her three children aged 7, 14 and 21.
On March 7, 2022, Elena left her hometown with her children.
At first, they lived in schools and boarding houses on the floor, sleeping on mattresses. Later, they moved to a shelter, where they stayed for a long time until the director changed and turned them out one night.
Everything happened so quickly, the child is sleepy and the mother is confused with the question “what’s next?”.
But thanks to the volunteers, she found out about our shelter and moved with her family for a while to find another place to live permanently with her children, because children need good conditions.
During the year, a lot of things went wrong, and that’s why I had to leave them with friends whom I had already met in Lviv.
Two children have disabilities, one child has diabetes and another has chronic kidney disease, and all need treatment.
Now the children study remotely, the eldest son is online at the university, the youngest daughter should already be in the first grade.
The man actively volunteers, and therefore stayed in his hometown.
Olena says: “If we don’t find housing in Lviv, then in the last resort, we will have to return home. But I would not like to return to that horror and those conditions… (crying) During the air raids, we constantly went down to the basement, but a child with diabetes has seizures and at such moments it is important to have access to warm, sweet tea.
We hope that Elena’s family will be lucky and the family will find a new home with comfortable living conditions for the children.
