On June 6, the shelter celebrated its first anniversary. A year ago, the shelter opened its doors on the same day the Russians blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, so it didn’t take long for the first residents to arrive. As quickly as possible, we started housing people from the flooded Kherson region. The first to join us were Ms. Tetyana and her daughter Antonina, and thus our story began.
New residents arrived daily, and over the course of a year, their number exceeded two thousand people. All of them are displaced persons from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
The walls of our shelter have heard many stories and seen many tears during its existence. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who supported our endeavor to help all affected Ukrainians and continue to do so, as well as to all our volunteers.
We would like to extend special thanks to the Development Foundation of Ukraine and Olena Solovyova, who prepared a gift for our little residents – a playground. Thanks to them, children will have a play space in the fresh air.
We do not plan to stop and will continue to help Ukrainians as long as they need it!
