On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and viciously shelled peaceful cities.
Millions of people have urgently evacuated to safer regions. Most of them have no place to wait out the difficult times.
They are already too mentally and physically exhausted and tired from relocating to nowhere, losing their homes, and everything they have experienced and seen. Some of them come with a backpack, and some with nothing at all. These people, like no other, need help.
Our Foundation has been helping internally displaced persons from the very beginning:
- by organizing their resettlement in shelters in Lviv region and other western oblasts;
- providing humanitarian aid, food and other necessities.
However, since August 2022, due to the closure of many shelters, including those in educational institutions, as well as the increasing flow of people displaced from newly de-occupied territories there has been a shortage of beds.
The Charitable Foundation “Borys Voznytskyy” decided to open and manage its own shelter in Lviv.
With the support of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, the Foundation began to renovate the premises, which can accommodate 70 people in need of assistance at a time.
The premises are located on the site of a former hospital on Lychakivska Street.
Currently, everything is ready to receive and accommodate people on one of the floors. The shelter has seven rooms with furniture and everything necessary for living, including dishes, bedding, and hygiene products. There is a shared kitchen with kitchen appliances, a shower room, a bathroom, and washing machines.
The renovation is ongoing and is in great need of support in the form of partial funding, volunteer hands, and building materials.
We hope that our guests will feel comfortable, warm and cozy here. Together we will be able to do many good deeds for the adaptation of forcefully moved refugees.
